I'm Timothy, and I started Firelinkx in 2019 after taking on independent client work on the side from August 2017. By the time I committed to it fully, I had already spent most of my career building the kind of internal systems many Guyanese businesses still assume they need to leave the country to get.

I'm from Georgetown. I went to Bishops' High School and probably spent more time in the IT room than anywhere else, running the PA for assemblies, helping classmates wire up their CSEC IT SBAs, and writing my first Pascal in third form. By fifth form I was already building with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. I went on to study Computer Science at the University of Guyana, where I picked up PHP and C, built a strong foundation in object-oriented languages including C#, and started developing .NET and .NET Core applications in Visual Studio.

At the same time, I got deep into Blender for 3D modeling and animation and into the Adobe stack, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and XD, for graphic design. None of that ever felt like a side hobby. I've been drawing and painting, both physically and digitally, since childhood, and that is why design and engineering have always felt like parts of the same craft to me rather than two separate tracks. One UG project I'm still proud of was a tsunami simulation I built in Blender with caustics, water physics, rigid bodies, and everything else, which the university later displayed on a workstation at Career Day. I got to demo it to visiting students myself and watch their excitement and interest grow as they saw what was possible.

While I was at UG, I also taught IT part-time at Bishops', and later I returned to UG as a part-time tutorial lecturer teaching non-computing students, mostly medical, how to work with real data in Python and R. Public speaking was, and honestly still is, something I have had to work at, and those teaching roles were partly my way of putting myself in front of a room often enough to get better at it.

Professionally, three places really shaped how I think about software. At Cenedex Software Solutions I started as a developer, moved into UI/UX, and then into technical project management. After a short internship at CARICOM, where I worked on their website and produced a few animations, I joined Hand in Hand Trust as Assistant IT Manager and built an accounting system in .NET Core. From there I moved to Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society as IT Manager, and that is where I led some of the work I am proudest of: a custom pension member portal for ExxonMobil, a full procurement and inventory system covering requisitions through recounts, a Python and PHP commission calculation engine across multiple policy types, an Odoo HRIS deployment, automation pipelines for large dataset extracts, a full employee intranet, and the access-control policies for Genetec security software.

Firelinkx exists because, even after all of that, I kept seeing serious Guyanese businesses lose ground to clunky tools, shallow vendors, and template-based solutions that could not grow with them. The mission is simple: serious technology for serious businesses, built by people who understand both engineering and the day-to-day realities of running a company here.
